Visiting the Haven

The basics — what Northwood Game Haven is, where it is, and what it costs to walk in and play.

What is Northwood Game Haven?

Northwood Game Haven is a game store, tabletop event center, and board-game vacation destination at 115 W Spring St in downtown Chippewa Falls, Wisconsin — about 15 minutes from Eau Claire. Under one roof: a retail game shop, a free-to-play board game library, a retro-to-modern video game lounge, The Raft craft soda & float bar, three privately bookable themed play rooms (The Holt, Stash's Den, and The Depths), and two overnight gaming suites (The Lodge and The Adventurer's Rest). Our mascot is Stash the otter.

Where are you located, and what are your hours?

We're at 115 W Spring St, Chippewa Falls, WI 54729. Retail & café hours: Monday–Thursday 5–9 PM, Friday 4–10 PM, Saturday 10 AM–10 PM, Sunday noon–8 PM. The private play rooms are different — they can be reserved 24/7, even outside retail hours, using contact-free smart-lock door codes.

What does it cost to play games there?

Open play is free during business hours — the board game library and video game lounge are included with your visit. You only pay for retail purchases, refreshments at The Raft, paid event registrations, or private room reservations.

Is Northwood Game Haven family-friendly?

Yes. There are family and kids sections in the game library, all-ages recurring nights like Family Classics Night where Gurus happily teach every game, kids birthday packages, and The Raft soda bar. Adults get their own lane too — 21+ After Dark birthday packages and after-hours private bookings, per our Terms & Conditions.

What is The Raft?

The Raft is our craft soda & float bar. It serves craft sodas, ice cream floats, and the make-your-own Dirty Soda kit ($12 — two craft sodas plus the fixings), with a Custom Float Bar experience for parties. It's the in-house refreshment stop for open play, events, and room bookings.

Can I bring alcohol?

Not during regular business hours — the Haven is an all-ages space while the doors are open to the public, so outside alcohol stays home. For private bookings outside business hours, guests who are 21 or older may enjoy alcohol responsibly. Illegal drugs are never allowed, and our Gurus may ask anyone who seems impaired to call it a night. The full rules are in Section 4 of our Terms.

Can I drop my kids off to play?

Kids are always welcome — they just need to bring a grown-up! Guests under 18 need a parent, guardian, or responsible adult with them, and our Gurus aren't able to provide childcare. That goes for birthday parties too: the Guru runs the fun, while the party host (or another adult they choose) stays on site for the whole party.

Will I end up in your photos or social posts?

Possibly — we sometimes snap general shots of the shop floor and public events for our socials. Rather not be in them? Just tell any Guru and we'll do our best to keep you out. Private-room bookings and birthday parties are different: we never use photos from a private party for promotion.

Are service animals or pets allowed?

Service animals are always welcome. No paperwork, vest, or ID needed — if it isn't obvious, a Guru may simply ask whether the animal is required because of a disability and what task it's trained to do. We just ask that it stays under your control and housebroken.

Pets (including emotional-support animals, which aren't service animals under the ADA) generally need to sit this one out — but if you'd like to bring a well-behaved friend to a private booking, reach out to a Guru in advance; with written approval, it may be possible. More in Section 13.1 of our Terms.

Is the Haven wheelchair accessible?

We want to be upfront so you can plan: right now, every indoor NGH space is reached by stairs — either the front steps or the back deck — and we don't have wheelchair ramps or an elevator. The Depths, our underground room, is down a further flight. If you or someone in your group has mobility or other access needs, please contact us before booking at 715-861-3214 or stash@northwoodgamehaven.com and we'll talk through what we can do to help.

Is there guest Wi-Fi?

Yes — free guest Wi-Fi covers the whole building, including the private rooms. The network name and password are posted in store; ask any Game Guru at the counter.

Can I stay overnight? Is it really a board-game vacation destination?

Yes — really. Two apartment-style overnight gaming suites, The Lodge and The Adventurer's Rest, are booked separately through VRBO with self check-in. Pair a suite with room bookings, an event weekend, or the birthday Haven Takeover for a full game-cation in Chippewa Falls. Not staying the night? Those same suites book by the day Monday–Thursday — see the next question.

Can I book one of the overnight suites just for the day?

Yes — that's a Riverside Day Suite. Monday through Thursday, The Lodge and The Adventurer's Rest can be booked for the afternoon or evening instead of the night: 4 hours for $89 per suite, $10 for each additional hour up to 8, with a $100 refundable deposit per suite. You get the whole living space — the fully-equipped cocktail bar, a full private kitchen to cook or bake whatever you like at no extra charge, a private restroom, karaoke with no extra deposit, both game libraries, and the river-view deck. The bedrooms stay locked, and the booking has to end by midnight — later than that is an overnight stay at overnight rates. Book at gamehaven.guru/suites. Weekends stay reserved for overnight guests, and we ask for two days' notice so the date comes off the VRBO calendar first.

Booking Private Rooms

How reservations, pricing, deposits, payment, and after-hours access work for The Holt, Stash's Den, and The Depths.

How do I book a room?

Book online at gamehaven.guru/booking.html in five quick steps: pick your room(s), choose a date, start time, and number of hours, add any add-ons, enter your contact info, and submit the request. A Game Guru reviews it against the live calendar, and once approved you'll get an approval email with secure payment links for the booking fee and refundable deposit. Prefer humans? Call 715-861-3214 or book in person at the counter.

How soon will I hear back after I request a room?

Usually within one business day. A Game Guru checks your request against the live calendar and emails you — either your approval with payment links, or a quick question if we need a detail or two first (like your final guest count). Watch for an email from us, and give the spam folder a peek if it's quiet.

How old do I need to be to book a room?

18 or older. Whoever submits the request is the "Booking Host" — the person we'll be in touch with, and the one responsible for the whole group following the house rules. Younger gamers are very welcome in the room, of course; they just need a grown-up to do the booking.

Which rooms can I book and what do they cost?

Three private themed spaces: The Holt (our flagship gathering den with big-screen A/V and shape-shifting tables), Stash's Den (a two-room hideaway with a big-screen A/V room, cozy table room, karaoke, and its own river-view back deck), and The Depths (our underground gaming dungeon). Each room is $10/hour for the first 4 hours, then $5/hour after — so a 4-hour room is $40. Minimum booking is 4 hours, maximum is 8, and you can reserve one room or all three at once. Wisconsin sales tax (5.5%) applies to the fee; the deposit is never taxed.

How many people fit in each room?

Here's what each space holds comfortably — counting the most people in the room at one time, not everyone who stops by over the day:

  • The Holt: 4–26 guests
  • Stash's Den: 2–18 guests
  • The Depths: 2–16 guests

Bigger crew? Book two rooms, or all three for a full-Haven gathering. The Riverside Day Suites hold up to 18 (The Lodge) and 20 (The Adventurer's Rest). The booking form shows these same ranges as you pick your room.

How do the refundable deposits work?

Every reservation includes a refundable deposit hold: $40 for one room, $80 for two, $100 for all three, plus $25 if the karaoke add-on is included. It's a hold, not a fee — it isn't taxed, and it's refunded in full as long as nothing is damaged, missing, or stolen and the room is left "reasonably cleaned": spills addressed, trash gathered. The full definition lives in our Terms & Conditions.

What if something gets broken or a game piece goes missing?

Accidents happen — games get loved hard! Just tell a Guru (or reply to your approval email) rather than tucking the box back on the shelf; a missing meeple is much easier to track down on the day. For genuine damage, loss, or theft, the repair or replacement cost can come out of your refundable deposit, and anything beyond the deposit is billed to the Booking Host. A little honesty goes a long way with us.

When do I have to pay?

Please have the booking fee (plus any paid add-ons and tax) paid by the end of the calendar day before your reservation. The payment links in your approval email work any time after approval, so the easiest move is to pay the fee right away and lock in your slot.

The refundable deposit is more relaxed — pay it online whenever you like, or at the counter when you arrive on the day. We'll never cancel your booking over the deposit. A booking whose fee is never paid can be released, so if something's holding you up, just reply to your approval email and we'll sort it out together.

How can I pay?

Approval emails include secure Stripe payment links accepting card, Apple Pay, and Google Pay — the links stay valid, so you can pay whenever you're ready. You can also pay in person by cash, card, or check, or by card over the phone at 715-861-3214. Event registrations check out the same way online; in-store purchases are cash or card at the register.

Can I book a room after hours or overnight? How do I get in?

Yes — rooms are bookable nearly any hour, day or night, even when the shop is closed. After-hours bookings automatically get a personal smart-lock door code emailed with your approval; it works from 1 hour before your start time until 1 hour after you finish, and only for your reserved rooms. For sleeping-overnight stays, book The Lodge or The Adventurer's Rest on VRBO instead.

Do you offer a military or first-responder discount?

Yes — 15% off room booking fees for active-duty military, veterans, and first responders. Check the box when booking; a Game Guru verifies your valid ID at check-in or in-person payment and the discount is applied. If ID can't be verified, the standard rate applies.

Can I set up a recurring weekly or monthly booking?

Yes. The booking form supports recurring reservations — perfect for a standing D&D campaign, club night, or league. Each occurrence is approved and paid individually, so you're only charged for sessions you confirm and can skip a week without penalty.

Can I host a public event in a room I book?

Absolutely — we love it when the community brings its own events to the Haven. Tournaments, meetups, club nights, open game days: book the room just like any other reservation. And if it's a private get-together where you're inviting your own guests, that's the whole story — no extra sign-off needed.

There's just one ask for public events (anything open to anyone and promoted on social media, event sites, flyers, and the like): check in with a Game Guru before the post goes out. When people see our name on an event online, they naturally assume it's a Northwood Game Haven event — so unless we're officially hosting or sponsoring it, we'll ask that your post say something like "an independently organized event held at Northwood Game Haven — not sponsored by NGH."

Feel free to tell everyone where it is! Just skip our logos and Stash, and don't bill it as an official NGH event. The fine print lives in Section 6.2 of our Terms & Conditions.

Can we bring our own games?

Of course! Bring your favorites, your campaign binder, or the game your friends keep refusing to learn. Every room has a bit of space to stage your own games and gear during your booking — it's limited, so pack like an adventurer, not a dragon hoarding treasure. And if you'd rather travel light, our 1,000+ game library is right there. (We can't be responsible for personal belongings, so keep an eye on the good stuff.)

Can we arrive early to set up or decorate?

Yes! Every reservation comes with a 15-minute buffer before and after your booked time for setup, decorating, and wrap-up. Need longer — say, for a big birthday build-out? Mention it in your booking request or give a Guru a shout ahead of time and we'll coordinate.

Decorate away — just skip anything that damages walls or furniture (nails, tape that peels paint, glitter, confetti, candles), and take everything down before your wrap-up time ends. Details are in Section 6 of our Terms.

What if we're having too much fun to leave on time?

Totally understandable. You've got the 15-minute buffer to finish that last round and pack up. If you'd like to stay longer, ask a Guru — extensions are case-by-case and depend on whether someone else has the room next. If it's free, we're happy to keep the fun going at the regular hourly rate.

What add-ons can I include with a booking?

Popular add-ons: karaoke equipment (+$25 to the deposit), the Bring Your Own Food & Drink add-on ($40/reservation) for outside food during business hours, catering pre-orders, board games and consoles delivered from the library to your room, and a Game Guru to set up, teach, and run your games. Birthday cakes and celebration treats never need an add-on — they're always welcome free.

How do I cancel or change my booking?

Reply to your confirmation email — it carries your booking reference and goes straight to staff — or call 715-861-3214. We'll cancel or reschedule you. Deposits on completed reservations are released after a normal post-visit check. Can't make it after all? A quick heads-up is always appreciated — it frees the room for someone else.

Game Gurus

Who they are, how they teach you games for free, and how to get one for your event.

What is a Game Guru?

A Game Guru is a Northwood Game Haven host and games expert — a community member on our team who teaches, hosts, and runs games at the Haven. Every Guru has a "Foraging Focus": their specialty categories, from strategy board games and trading card games to retro video games, mahjong, cribbage, crokinole, and family games. Gurus review booking requests, run our events, and make sure every guest finds the right game. As Stash puts it: "Every forest needs its foragers. My Gurus know where all the good stuff is hiding."

How does a Guru help me learn a game?

Just ask — teaching is free during open hours and events. A Game Guru provides personalized recommendations, full game setup, rules teaching and instruction, answers to questions mid-play, refereeing, and complete pick-up and clean-up when you're done. At recurring nights, newcomers are taught right at the table, and learn-to-play decks are kept at the counter for card games. Never let "we don't know the rules" keep a game on the shelf.

How do I become a Game Guru?

Apply through the "Become a Game Guru" section on gamehaven.guru or email stash@northwoodgamehaven.com. Gurus share expertise in their Foraging Focus and receive perks: access to the full game library and our wholesale/retail relationships, a snack & drink credit during every event they host, and deep discounts on products in their focus categories.

Events, Registration & Tickets

Finding events, registering, QR tickets, text reminders, check-in, and requesting the event you wish existed.

How do I find out what events are happening?

The live Event Calendar on gamehaven.guru lists every upcoming event with dates, times, prices, and full details. Every event also has its own shareable page at gamehaven.guru/event/<event-id> — great for sending to your group chat. Events are also posted on Facebook, Instagram, and our Discord. Weekly staples include board game nights, trading card nights, Trick-Taking Club, mahjong Sundays, and Family Classics Night.

How do I register and pay for an event?

Open the event on the calendar and tap Register. Free events may just need a headcount; paid events check out securely online via Stripe with card, Apple Pay, or Google Pay. You're then emailed a QR-code ticket — one scan admits your whole party. From your ticket page you can print it, add it to Google Wallet, change your ticket count, or cancel with automatic refunds. Many events also sell spots in store or at the door while capacity lasts.

How does check-in work when I arrive at an event?

Show your QR ticket at the door — one scan checks in your entire party. No QR handy? Staff can look you up by name or registration number. If your group arrives at different times, the same QR keeps working until everyone on the registration is checked in.

Can I get a text reminder before an event?

Yes — free, opt-in, and only for the events you pick. Three ways to sign up: check “Text me a reminder” when you register for an event; tap 📱 Text me reminders on any event on the calendar (even events that don't need registration); or go to gamehaven.guru/sms, check the upcoming events you want (up to 12 per sign-up — use the Show menu to find one event's dates), and sign up once. For weekly nights like Friday Night Magic, tick 🔁 Every … (or tap 🔁 Remind me every time on the event) to get reminders for every date for up to 6 months. We text you two days before and the morning of each event, plus a heads-up only if that event is canceled or its time changes — up to 3 texts per event. The first time you sign up we'll ask you to reply YES to confirm it's your phone. Message and data rates may apply. Full details are in our SMS Terms.

How do I stop text reminders, or see what I signed up for?

Reply STOP to any reminder and every reminder for that number ends right away (you'll get one final text confirming it). You can also use Stop all reminders at gamehaven.guru/sms, and Text me my list there sends your current reminders to your phone. Single-date reminders end on their own after the event, and every-date sign-ups end after 6 months (or when the series ends) — sign up again any time. It's never a marketing list — no promotions, ever, from this program. Reply HELP for help, or text START to rejoin.

Can I get texts about my room booking, party or pickup order?

Yes — tick the 📱 box on the form. On a room, Riverside Day Suite or birthday request, “Text me about this booking” gets you the approval, a reminder the evening before, your door code (within 48 hours of your booking) and a heads-up when your deposit is refunded. On a pickup order, “Text me when it's ready” sends one text when it's bagged at the counter. All from 1-855-MEEPLE-8, never marketing, and STOP ends it.

An event is sold out — can I get a text if a spot opens?

Yes. Tap 📱 Text me if a spot opens on the sold-out date. If someone cancels, we text everyone waiting at the same moment — first come, first served. If an event needs a minimum number of players, people with reminders also get an “It's on!” text when it's confirmed. You can also sign up for some weekly nights by texting the keyword on our in-store signs (like FNM) to 1-855-MEEPLE-8 and replying YES.

Where can I sign up for text reminders?

Anywhere you find an event: tap 📱 Text me reminders on the event calendar, an event page, the home page, our app, your registration or ticket email, your ticket page, or scan the QR on our in-store TV screens and signs. Or go straight to gamehaven.guru/sms and pick up to 12 dates at once (or 🔁 every date of a weekly event). You can also text an event keyword from our signs (like FNM) to 1-855-MEEPLE-8.

I signed up but I’m not getting texts — why?

The usual reasons: you haven’t replied YES to our first text yet; you texted STOP at some point (text START to 1-855-MEEPLE-8, then sign up again); it’s overnight (we only text 8 AM–9 PM Central); or you signed up less than two days out (you’ll get just the last reminder before it). Some phones filter toll-free numbers — save us as a contact. Text LIST to see what you’re signed up for. Details in the SMS Terms.

Will you ever ask for payment or a password by text?

Never. We will not ask for a card number, bank details, password or verification code by text. Our texts come only from 1-855-MEEPLE-8 (855-633-7538) and link only to gamehaven.guru. A pay link opens our site, which hands you to Stripe’s secure checkout. If a text claiming to be us looks off, don’t tap it — call 715-861-3214.

Who can see my number if I sign up for texts?

Only our staff. Game Gurus see each event’s roster — who registered (and whether they’ve paid) plus who asked for text reminders — so they can run the event and let you know if anything changes. Other customers never see it, we never see card numbers, and your number is never used for marketing or shared with anyone else for theirs. See our Privacy Policy.

What happens if an event doesn't get enough players, or gets canceled?

Some events need a minimum number of players to "fire" — the event page tells you if so. Your spot is confirmed once that minimum is reached, and we'll email you when it is (paid events include a payment link, due by one hour before start). If an event doesn't reach its minimum or we have to cancel it, any fee you paid online is refunded automatically to your original payment method — nothing to chase.

Birthday Parties

Kids and adult packages, pricing, add-ons, and how booking a party works.

How do birthday parties work?

Pick a package and request your date at gamehaven.guru/birthday. Your date and rooms are tentatively held on the calendar the moment you submit, then staff contact you to confirm details. Once confirmed and approved, you receive secure online payment links — same easy Stripe checkout as room bookings, with the standard refundable deposit by room count. Kids parties (about ages 5–12) are the "Stash's Birthday Raft" packages; adult 21+ parties are "The After Dark."

What are the kids birthday packages and prices?

Two kids packages, each with a Guru host running the fun:

  • Pup Party — $149: up to 10 kids, 4 hours in The Holt.
  • Raft Deluxe — $199: up to 16 kids, 4 hours across The Holt plus both rooms of Stash's Den.

Both include a Prize Wheel spin for every guest (every spin wins), the Party Float Kit, karaoke, and a free Fidget Forge kit for the birthday hero. Prices don't include tax; the refundable deposit by room count applies.

What are the adult (21+) birthday packages?

The After Dark lineup:

  • Den Party — $89: both rooms of Stash's Den plus the river-view back deck.
  • Dungeon Crawl — $129: The Depths plus The Holt.
  • Haven Takeover — from $449: every room, plus an overnight stay in The Lodge or The Adventurer's Rest.

A Guru-run One-Shot tabletop adventure — with the birthday hero as the hero of the story — can be included with any party.

What birthday add-ons are available?

Add the Pro Photo Session for $50 — a Guru photographer at your party, digitals plus up to 10 edited shots delivered only to you, and a keepsake print mailed to your address. You tick a photo-consent statement when you book; we never use party photos for promotion (see the Photography & Media terms). Or add the Fidget Forge craft activity for $5 per person (50% off) — the Birthday Hero builds free. Karaoke and the Party Float Kit are already included in the packages.

Will my child be photographed at someone else's party?

Only if that party's host ordered the Pro Photo Session — and then the photos are taken for the host family only, never for our marketing. Hosts agree to tell the parents of invited kids ahead of time (we give them a ready-made notice). You can opt your child out at any time by telling the host, the photographer or any staff member, and the photographer will skip them; if your child still appears in a shot, ask and we'll remove it before delivery. Files are deleted within 90 days of delivery. Details are in the Photography & Media terms.

Can we bring our own cake and food?

Birthday cakes and celebration treats are always welcome — free, any time, no add-on needed. Other outside food and non-alcoholic drinks during business hours require the Bring Your Own Food & Drink add-on ($40/reservation); for private bookings outside business hours, outside food is generally fine with staff guidance. The Raft and catering pre-orders are also available. Alcohol rules live in the Terms & Conditions.

Shop & Products

What we sell, how to check availability, and trading cards.

What products do you sell, and how do I find out what's available?

The retail shop carries board games, trading card games and singles, accessories, candy, and craft sodas. Three ways to check availability: shop online any time at northwoodgamehaven.company.site, browse trading card singles on our TCGplayer store, or call/text 715-861-3214 to check stock and place a hold. New arrivals are announced on Facebook, Instagram, and Discord. Don't see it? Ask us to order it — a Game Guru prices it from our distributors and emails you the cost and timing; nothing is ordered until you say go, and there is no deposit.

Do you buy, sell, or trade trading cards?

Yes — we buy, sell, and trade Magic: The Gathering, Pokémon, One Piece, Yu-Gi-Oh!, and more. Singles are listed on our TCGplayer seller page, and the calendar is stocked with card nights, open play, and prerelease events. Bring your binder to any card night to trade.

Coupons & Promotions

Redeeming event coupons, promo codes, and store-credit promotions.

How do I redeem a coupon or promo code I got at an event?

Bring it in and show it at the counter or the event door — either the printed coupon or the coupon link/QR page on your phone. Every promotional coupon carries a unique one-time code that staff scan or enter to validate and mark as used, so it can't be double-redeemed and yours can't be claimed by someone else. Event-specific terms, expiration dates, and eligible products are stated on the coupon itself. Questions about a specific coupon: stash@northwoodgamehaven.com.

How do first-arrival perks and store-credit promotions work?

Some events include limited promos — for example, a perk for the first group of registrants or arrivals, spelled out on the event page. Qualifying guests receive a unique coupon by email or at the door and redeem it by staff scan like any coupon. Store-credit promotions are tracked at the register under your name or phone number, so your credit is waiting on your next visit even without a paper coupon.

The App & Game Companion

Haven Rewards, specials & coupons, Order Ahead, and the free Game Companion tools: Turn-Key™, First Player, CCG Life Counter and RPG Companion.

What is the Northwood Game Haven app, and where do I get it?

It is the Haven in your pocket: hours and the event calendar, room and suite booking, Haven Rewards, food-and-drink and retail specials with a coupon wallet, Order Ahead pickup, the game libraries, Karaoke Battle and Trivia join screens, and the free Game Companion tools (Turn-Key™, First Player, CCG Life Counter, RPG Companion). Open gamehaven.guru/app in any phone browser and tap Add to home screen, or install Turn-Key: Northwood Game Haven from Google Play. An iPhone app is on the way; until then the web app works the same in Safari.

Do I need an account to use the app?

No. Everything except Haven Rewards works without one, and the Game Companion tools never ask for an account. Haven Rewards signs you in with the email on your account and a 6-digit code we email you — there is no password to remember. Signing in also makes coupons one tap and lets Order Ahead orders earn rewards.

How do Haven Rewards work?

Every purchase in store or in the app earns rewards you spend at the register, and room bookings and event tickets earn too. Open Rewards in the app and show your customer code — the Guru scans it to earn, to spend, and to apply any special you have claimed. Your balance, upcoming bookings, orders and recent purchases are all on that screen. Rewards have no cash value and cannot be transferred; the fine print is in Terms §20.2.

How do specials and coupons in the app work?

Browse Food & Drink or Retail specials, tap Claim, and a single-use QR coupon lands in My coupons on that phone — show it at the counter and the Guru scans it. Signed in to Haven Rewards? Every coupon is one tap and follows you to any phone, because it is tied to your email instead of the device. One claim per person per special unless the special says otherwise; see how to redeem a coupon and Terms §20.3.

Can I order from the shop ahead of time and pick it up?

Yes — Order Ahead in the app. Search the shop (tick In stock only to skip pre-orders), add to your cart, pick a pickup time during open hours, and choose Pay now (secure checkout through Stripe) or Pay at pickup (we hold it at the register for cash, card or rewards). Prices include tax. Tick Text me when it’s ready for one text from 1-855-MEEPLE-8. At the counter just give the Guru your name or order number. Pickup windows and refunds are in Terms §20.4.

What is the Game Companion?

Four free tools for the table, built into the app at gamehaven.guru/app/companion: Turn-Key™ (your phone becomes your seat — whose turn, time left, a nudge when you are next), First Player (everyone touches the screen, one finger wins; also splits teams and sets turn order), the CCG Life Counter, and the RPG Companion (dice, initiative and combat tracker, character sheet, quick rules). No account, no ads. First Player, the Life Counter and the RPG tools work offline anywhere; Turn-Key™ needs a connection because it keeps every phone at the table in sync.

What is Turn-Key™?

Turn-Key™ is our turn tracker for tabletop games where every player’s phone is their seat. The ring on your screen is you; the center is whoever is up — tap it when your turn ends. It drains as your time runs, buzzes when you are next, shows the whole table’s order and timer, and carries the table’s reactions (the side-eye included), emotes and stickers. One player hosts and gets a code and QR; everyone else scans in. A host can also put the table on a TV. Turn-Key™ is a trademark of Northwood Experiences LLC; patent pending.

How do I host or join a Turn-Key™ table? Do I have to be at the Haven?

Joining works anywhere — open Turn-Key™ in the app and enter the 5-letter table code from whoever is hosting, or scan their QR. Hosting gives you that code and QR to share; hosting may ask for the venue code printed on the table signs, table tents and TVs at the Haven (scan the sign’s QR and it fills itself in, or ask a Guru), and once your phone has it, it keeps it. Playing with someone who has no phone? The host can add a player without one. Lost the page mid-game? Rejoin puts you back in your seat.

Can we put the Turn-Key™ table on a TV?

Yes. From the table screen tap Show on a TV and open the link on any TV browser or a laptop plugged into a screen — it shows the seats, whose turn it is, the timer and the reactions, big enough for the whole room. At the Haven, ask a Guru to put your table on the TV in your room.

What does a Turn-Key™ table share about me, and how long is it kept?

Only what you type: the name, color and shape you pick, the emoji, emotes or stickers you send, and your votes for the next game — all visible to everyone at the table and on any TV it is shown on, so treat the table code like a room key. No account or phone number is needed. Tables are temporary and erase themselves about 12 hours after the last action; custom stickers are stored so the table can show them and are deleted automatically within about 120 days. Details in Terms §20.6 and the Privacy Policy.

How does First Player pick who goes first, and can it make teams?

Everyone puts one finger on the screen and holds still — the Haven picks one, with a drumroll. Switch to Groups to split everyone into two or more teams, or Order to deal a full turn order, and set how many winners you want. It is random every time, works offline, and has a mute button for quiet tables. For fun only — not for anything with money on it.

What does the CCG Life Counter do?

It is a life tracker for 2 to 6 players of any trading card game. Choose a starting life of 20, 30 or 40 (commander), name and color each player, and lay the tiles out around the table or everyone upright. Each tile tracks life, commander damage from each opponent, poison, the monarch and the initiative; there is undo and a full history, a dice and coin roller, a random-player picker, Next turn with an optional turn timer, and Resume last game if someone pockets the phone. It works offline with no account.

What is in the RPG Companion?

Five tabs for your tabletop RPG night: Dice (tap dice to build a formula — d4 to d100, modifiers, advantage or disadvantage — then roll, or shake the phone), Combat (initiative and round tracker, hit points, temporary HP, conditions, exhaustion and concentration for players and monsters), Character (a d20-style character sheet with export and import as JSON), Rules (a quick reference paraphrased from the System Reference Document 5.1, used under CC-BY-4.0 — always defer to your GM), and Notes. Everything works offline and lives on your device.

Where is my Game Companion data stored? Will I lose my characters?

On your device only — characters, notes, histories and settings never leave your phone. That means clearing browser data, deleting the app or switching phones erases them, and we cannot recover them. Export your character as JSON from the Character tab (and import it on the new phone) when it matters. Turn-Key™ tables are the exception: they live on our servers while the game runs and erase themselves about 12 hours after the last action.

Is the app okay for kids?

It is a general-audience app for a family venue, so there is nothing in it we would not put on a TV in the shop — but it is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect their information. A parent or guardian makes the Haven Rewards account, places orders and registers for events. The Game Companion tools need no account at all, and a host can switch emotes and custom stickers off for a Turn-Key™ table. More in the Privacy Policy.

How do I delete my Haven Rewards account or the app’s data?

In the app go to Rewards → Delete my account, or use gamehaven.guru/account-delete — no app or sign-in required. That removes your name, email, phone, rewards balance and customer code, and any bookings or registrations under that email; records of completed purchases are kept for tax. A person here does it within 30 days and emails you when it is done. Game Companion data is only on your device, so deleting the app or clearing browser data removes it.

Who owns the website and the app?

Northwood Experiences LLC owns the gamehaven.guru website and the Game Haven app outright — the software, the designs, the content, the logo artwork and Stash. Northwood Game Haven (ECCentric LLC) uses them under a license from Northwood Experiences LLC, entirely at Northwood Experiences LLC’s discretion. Northwood Experiences LLC is also the developer named on the app’s store listing. © 2025–2026 Northwood Experiences LLC, all rights reserved — see Ownership of This Website & App in our Terms. The Northwood Game Haven name itself, and Game Haven, The Haven, Haven Rewards, The Raft and The Holt, belong to ECCentric LLC.

The app or Turn-Key™ is not working — what should I try?

Check your connection first: Turn-Key™, Rewards, coupons and Order Ahead need one (the Haven’s guest Wi-Fi works; so does cellular). Then refresh the page or, in the installed app, close it fully and reopen — if the app says it has an update, take it. A table that will not load may have expired (tables erase themselves about 12 hours after the last action) — host a new one. Still stuck? Ask any Guru in the shop, or email stash@northwoodgamehaven.com with your phone model and what you tapped.

Contact & Help

Reaching a human, fixing a problem, and getting refunds.

How do I contact you if I have an issue with a booking, ticket, or order?

Fastest: reply directly to your confirmation email — it carries your reference number and lands with staff immediately. Otherwise:

Canceled event registrations refund automatically; booking deposit questions are handled per the Terms & Conditions.

I lost my ticket or door code — what do I do?

Your ticket QR and any door code are both in your confirmation/approval email — search your inbox for "Northwood Game Haven." Still stuck? Staff can look up your event registration by name at the door, and can re-send a booking's approval email or re-issue a door code — just call 715-861-3214 or reply to any email from us.

I left something behind — do you have a lost and found?

We do! Call or text 715-861-3214 as soon as you notice and we'll take a look. Found items are held for a limited time before they're donated, so the sooner the better — and keep phones, wallets, and card binders close while you play, since we can't be responsible for personal belongings.

What do you do with my contact information?

We use it to run your booking or registration — confirming, reminding, and reaching you if something changes. We never sell your personal information, and if you've opted into NGH news and offers, you can opt out any time.

Still curious?

That's the spirit we like. Book a room, browse the calendar, or just come forage the library — a Game Guru will take it from there.
